Bio
General Anghel Andreescu is retired from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and serves as an Associated PhD Professor at the Carol I National Defense University, at Alexandru Ioan Cuza Police Academy and at Bioterra University.
From 2007-11, he was the Director of the “Terrorism and Cross-border Crime Countering” Master Program at the Lucian Blaga Political Science, International Relations and European Studies University.
He was a University Professor at the National Defense College, at the Crisis Management and Multinational Operations College and at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza Police Academy. Since 2008, he is the Project Manager of ”Terror Management – the kamikaze psycholog” study by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ground Forces Department of the Carol I National Defense University.
From 2005-09 he was Secretary of State and Head of the Public Safety Department at the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Throughout time, Gen. Andreescu held several management positions: Romanian Gendarmerie Commander, the Postgraduate Centre Commander of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Protection and Guard Service manager. He is a signatory of 16 Protocols concluded between 1999 and 2000 with Pierre Steinmetz, the French Gendarmerie Commander, Oscar Strohmeyer Brigade General, Commander of the Federal Gendarmerie of the Austrian Republic and with Sergio Siracusa, the commander of Carabinieri General.
Professor Anghel Andreescu is a member of the Military Department of the Romanian Scientists Academy. Military strategy and tactics specialist, PhD coordinator and author of 48 books and 271 articles published in professional journals, he was awarded for his entire activity with the highest decorations, like the Order of Merit – France (1999), the Order of the Star of Romania, Grand Officer (2000), the Patriarchal Cross award (2000), Faithful Service National Order in rank of Cavalier with insignia for military (2008). In 2008 he was elected member of the Honorary committee of the National Order of the Star of Romania.
