Bio
Dr. David Maimon is Associate Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland College Park, and a faculty associate at the Maryland Cyber Security Center. He has applied his expertise in his research on system trespassing (i.e. hacking), public WIFI and wide range of computer assisted crimes (for instance online fraud, phishing, copyright infringement). Dr. Maimon is currently one of few criminologists around the world who applies experimental research designs in an effort to study cyber offenders’ illegal behaviors during a criminal event.
He serves as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Law in the Hebrew University, and as a research investigator in the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism in the University of Maryland. Dr. Maimon has published his work in top tier criminological journals, served as a reviewer and program committee member for top academic conferences, criminological journals and funding agencies, and has been an invited speaker in both academic, governmental and industry forums in the U.S. and around the globe. In 2015 he was awarded the “2015 Young Scholar Award” from the “White-Collar Crime Research Consortium of the National White-Collar Crime Center” for his cybercrime research He has a B.A. (’03) and M.A (’05) cum laude from Haifa University (Israel), and a Ph.D. (’09) from the Ohio State University.
