Bio
Florin Ganea serves as Romanian Ministry of National Defense liaison officer to the US European Command HQ. Previously he was the head of the Foreign Armed Forces Liaison Section in MoND, where he dealt on the issues of monitoring and implementation of the access agreement. Between 2013 and 2015 he served as Head of South Eastern Defense Ministerial Secretariat.
He has extensive experience in military command and military teaching. He was a superior instructor for the Army Combat Application School, a XO for the Head of Training and Education in the Land forces NCO School, a criminal investigator and a head lecturer for international law. Florin served as Commandant of NCO Training Centre, a unit funded with US Marine Corps support where he had 12 marines under command and as platoon commander in the “Mihai Viteazul” Armour School in Pitesti.
Over the years, Florin has been part of numerous international assignments. From 2008-10, he was a trainer of CREVAL Course in the NATO School Oberammergau, Germany, NATO HQ Madrid and NATO HQ Heidelberg. From 2007-10, he served as Head of Evaluation Office, in J7 Training and Exercises at the NATO Allied Land Headquarters where he was responsible for NRF land evaluation forces in JFC Naples AOR. From 2004-05, he served as an UN Military Observer in the UN Mission in DR Congo and from 2001-03, he served as border monitor, head of operations and later, Head of Confidence Building Unit in the 2003 OSCE Mission to Skopje, FYROM. He took part in working visits at the USMC Training Base Camp Pendleton, the Army NCO Academy, Trikkala, Greece and the US Marine Corps Academy, Quantico, Virginia. In 1998 he was a CIMIC staff officer at the Multinational Headquarters North in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina. In 1997 he was a legal adviser of the commandant, Romanian Battalion in Albania, ALBA Mission, under OSCE mandate.
Florin holds a Ph.D in military science from NDU, Bucharest and a BA in law studies from the Police Academy “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Bucharest.
He has extensive training from the NATO School Oberammergau in command and control, Combat Readiness Evalation (CREVAL) and crisis management. He also took numerous courses on operational capability (PfP Centre, Niisalo, Finland), joint operations and Combined Joint Task Force (NDU, Bucharest), negotiation and diplomatic skills (US Institute for Peace, Skopje, FYROM) and civil-military operations (Ede, Holland). He is proficient in English and conversational in Spanish, French, Serbian and Macedonian.
