Bio
Retired General Teodor Frunzeti serves as appointed adviser at the National Security Department, of the Romanian Presidency. He is chairman of the Military Sciences Department of the Academy of Romanian Scientists, a professor of international relations and political science at the “Titu Maiorescu” University in Bucharest and an associated professor at "Lucian Blaga" University, Sibiu and Babes Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca. From 2009-13, he held the position of commandant and rector of “Carol I” National Defense University where he is now a professor and PhD coordinator.
During his military career, Gen. Frunzeti occupied a number of command and staff positions at tactical, operative and strategic level, among which: Army Chief of Staff (2006-2009), deputy director of the General Staff (2006), commander of Marshal Alexandru Averescu 2nd Joint Command (2004-2006), chief of training and doctrine, general inspector of the Army, commander of the Army Command (2003-2004), commander of the 33rd Mechanized Brigade and deputy commander of the 10th Territorial Army Corps (2002-2003).
He published numerous books, handbooks, articles and studies, in Romania and abroad. He is a member of the scientific college and editorial boards of international publications on defense, intelligence, and defense resources management.
Gen. Frunzeti was awarded a series on international and national awards: the National Order “Legion of honour in degree of officer, France, 2010; the Legion of Merit in degree of commander, USA, 2008; the Italian star of solidarity in degree of officer, Italy, 2009; the National Order “Faithful Service” in degree of knight, 2012; the“Star of Romania” in degree of knight, 2010; the “Faithful Service” National Cross, 2000.
Gen. Frunzeti holds a PhD in military strategy and a PhD in Political Sciences.
Gen. Frunzeti graduated the US Army Command and General Staff College, the International Defense Transformation Course at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, the NATO Defense College, Rome, the United Nations Senior management Seminar, New York and Oslo, the Senior Executive Seminar at the George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies, Germany, the NATO School, Germany.
