Bio
Major Roman serves as Security Advisor at Iasi City Hall and as an Associate Lecturer at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Iasi University, where he teaches European Security Studies.
Previously, he served as Chief of Doctrine and Training at the Romanian Land Forces and then as Chief of Operations at the Romanian General Staff.
During his military career he held commanding positions in a series of motorized, infantry, and intelligence brigades. He deployed to Afghanistan where he worked closely with coalition forces, being the first commander who led an assault operation with US and Afghan forces in Kandahar and the first Romanian Army Battalion to assume responsibility to plan, conduct and asses these kind of action, post-World War I.
Major Roman holds a post-academic studies diploma in Security and Government from the Romanian National Defense College and a PhD in Military Science and Intelligence from the National Defense University.
He holds a MA in Military Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, a BA in History from Iasi University, and a BA in Military Science and Intelligence from the National Defense University. He holds extensive training in Advanced Joint Operations, Specialized operative preparation, mountain warfare.
Major Roman was awarded a series of military honors, such as Knight of Military Virtue, Honor of Romanian Army and of the Navy.
